Geography Statistics Lecture Notes, First Term

In the Fall of 1994, I had the opportunity to teach the first term of the Geography Statistics course, GGR 270Y, at the University of Toronto. It was my first academic teaching experience and it turned out quite well. (It led eventually to my getting my Ph.D.) In the Fall of 1996, I had the opportunity again. Due to the basic illegibility of my handwriting, I had typed in all my notes, and at that time, the computer websites for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences were just being set up (I participated in this major event!). I decided to make my lecture notes available online as the term progressed, which had a favourable response. Now (June 12, 2004) almost 8 years later, the notes are still on the CQUEST site!

I decided that I should assemble the notes into a single PDF document for greater ease of access, and to ensure that I would have a copy of them in case the Powers That Be decided to renovate the GGR 270Y site and delete them. The notes are in a 50-page PDF File (229 Kb) including a title page and 3 pages of table of contents. As I created this by printing from a Word document to a PDF driver, I was unable to include hyperlinks (blasted Adobe driver doesn't recognize links within a document!)

I hope that this is useful for you. If you have any comments, please Mail Me!
